Hi Jonathan,

I don't support the TPS25750 but it is my understanding that firmware can be written to perform all reads and writes to the charger. Having a direct connection from MCU to BQ would be a good back up solution in case the firmware can't be updated quickly enough.

the original question was:

We want to use a TPS25750 to handle all USB PD communication and to act mostly autonomously. However during runtime, we may want to change charging current and final charging voltage along with activating or deactivating USB Sourcing (powerbank mode). We'd also like to read the battery voltage and current. Is this still possible when using the TPS25750 "in between" MCU an BQ or should we also have a direct connection from MCU to the BQ I2C interface?

An external MCU or battery gas gauge is required to manage charger termination for BQ25730 because this isn't supported by TPS25750.
