TCAN1462-Q1: TCAN1044AVDRBRQ1 Replacement

Part Number: TCAN1462-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAN1462V-Q1

Hi team,

Our customer has been designing with TCAN1044AVDRBRQ1 and now they want to switch to TCAN1462V-Q1(SON8) as SIC becomes required.

I know these two devices are pin to pin compatible for the same package and pinout. Does it mean they are functionally compatible and we don't need to change the design at all?

Thanks,

Muwei Zheng

  • Hi Muwei,

That's correct. This family of SIC transceivers is designed to be used in the same way as the CAN FD transceivers as far as PCB design and software. The only significant difference will be improve signal quality on the analog signal lines, allowing larger and more complex cable harnesses.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

  • Hi Eric,

    Thank you for your response.

By the way is there any plan to get this device qualified for Velio? Which CMC is going to be qualified as combination?

  • Hi Muwei,

We are currently working with Velio to determine what testing is appropriate for CAN SIC transceivers. Once the requirements have been firmly established, we will be submitting our CAN SIC family of devices for testing at Vilio. I anticipate that the CMC for the new certifications will likely be the same as was used for TCAN1044A - VFB4532-510D.
