HD3SS3212: SEL Pin Control using discrete solution

Part Number: HD3SS3212

We are using HD3SS3212 Mux/Demux Switch to enable USB Type C reversibility function. We are using a USB PD 3.0 Sink Controller connected to USB Type-C Receptacle whose CC1 & CC2 Pins are grounded with 5.1K resistor. The PD sink Controller we have used does not have any provision of control pins to control HD3SS3212 SEL pin by sensing the CC pins. So we are planning to control the HD3SS3212 SEL pin using comparator based on the voltage in CC1 & CC2 pins. Can you please provide any reference design or guidance to control HD3SS3212 SEL pin directly based on Receptacle CC1 & CC2 pin voltages

Also I have some general queries in USB Type Connectors. Please answer the below
1)The Receptacle in my device
Power - sinks power to my device
Data - Acts as a Host in Data Transmission
Then this receptacle will be a UFP or DFP? A port sink power but acts as host in data transmission will be UFP or DFP?
Or Does a Connector(say here Receptacle) which sinks power can only act as USB device(Peripheral) and not as Host in data transmission?
2)Please provide a CC pins connection diagram with Rp & Rd resistors in UFP & DFP for below configuration to understand the Receptacle CC pins voltage during Cable flipped and Unflipped condition

  • Rama:

We always assume PD controller or CC controller  will have a pin to control USB3 Mux , so we don't have reference design for that.

We only support CC controller and it don't support power role swap. So pls submit another ticket to PD team about 2nd question.
