DS26LV32AT: AM26LV32E a drop-in alternative?

Genius 13989 points

Part Number: DS26LV32AT

Hi Experts,

Good day. Seeking your assistance please.

Customer needed DS26LV32ATMX/NOPB but due to unavailability, we found alternate as follows:

  • AM26LV32EIDR

Does this consider a drop-in replacement? Please also confirm whether it has any software impact?

Thank you.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hi Archie,

They are similar parts and both are available in same package/pinout and is probably the best option to replace.

The biggest difference I see between the parts is the timing specifications - the AM26LV32EIDR is rated 3.2x faster than the current device. You can still run the AM26LV32EIDR at the lower data-rate, but the transition times will be a bit quicker - so there will be more high frequency content generated with the AM26 than the current part - if the system is properly terminated and has been setup properly this shouldn't be that big of an issue, but it is a difference.

From a software perspective - really doubtful they have to change anything - both parts have the same control scheme so I don't think firmware would need to change since they function the same way and RS-485 doesn't have a firmware protocol tied to it so the devices don't have integrated firmware so no new code should be needed.

Please let me know if you have any other questions!

    Best,

    Parker Dodson
