TUSB1142: flip signal from TPS25750 available?

Part Number: TUSB1142
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS25750, , HD3SS3220, TUSB1104

The required implementation on which I am working shall provide on a USB-C type connector USB3.2 Gen2 (10 Gbps), Source of 5V/1A, sinking/charging is no requirement, PD or BC1.2 also not required, however re-driving on the SS signals is required due to long traces.

Now I have these 2 drafts of TI chips to accomplish the task:

1.

TPS25750 USB Type-C® and USB PD Controller with Integrated Power Switches Optimized for Power Applications
TUSB1142 USB Type-CTm 10 Gbps USB 3.2 2:1/1:2 Mux/DeMux Adaptive Linear Redriver

2.

HD3SS3220 USB Type-C DRP Port Controller with SuperSpeed 2:1 MUX
TUSB1104 USB Type-CTm 10 Gbps USB 3.2 x2 Adaptive Linear Redriver
Plus a 5V power switch with current limit

While there are no questions on the second implementation, I have not found a way to get the FLIP signal required for the TUSB1142 out of the TPS25750. Is this silicon combination not feasible?

  • Hi Oliver,

You can use the Cable_Orientation_Event GPIO event from the TPS25750 to determine how the connected cable is oriented:

Through the GUI, you can modify this GPIO to either be active high/low or open drain as well to suit your requirements as shown below:

    Thanks and Regards,
