DS90UB934-Q1: Input/Output states: Static/Active Criteria

Part Number: DS90UB934-Q1

Hi Team,

Curious on an item from the 934 datasheet regarding the OEN and OSS pins. This table which shows that when certain conditions are met that Pclk, Data, and Lock output will be pulled low by the deserializer.

The “Inputs” section of the datasheet is unclear, it refers to serial inputs being static or active:

1.Can you clarify what is meant by serial input (ex: Is is the forward channel or is it I2C communication)?

2. What criteria determines static vs active? Is it a timeout?

2bIf it's timeout related, what is the setting of the timeout?

3.Also could you clarify purpose of using serial inputs as criterion for the output?

  • Hello,

Thank you for your questions. I've answered them in order below.

    1. The serial input is the FPD-Link III input, this is essentially the video or signal being sent on the forward channel.

    2. Static means that the input is not toggling. This could mean that the device is disconnected or powered down. Active means that there is video data or a signal toggling at the input of the device. There is not necessarily a timeout involved, but the presence or absence of a signal.

    3. Since the serial inputs determine if any signal is being input to the device, using it as an output criterion is beneficial to understand how the device is operating. For example, the device could be configured to output data and be powered on properly, but if no signal is being received then there will not be any output.

    Regards,

    Darrah
