THVD1400: ESD Values for THVD1400DRLR

Part Number: THVD1400

Hi, For the part THVD1400DRLR - the ESD Values in the Datasheet are given as 16KV for Bus Terminals and 4KV for All other pins.

In order to consider ESD, which value should be considered "All Other Pins" or "Bus Terminals"?

  • The bus terminals are the A and B pins.

Which value to use depends on which pins you expect ESD events to happen (or to be tested). I'd guess that in your application, only the bus pins are connected to the external world.

  • Hi Rohith,

Clemens is correct - bus terminals are A/B and everything else is "other". So there is more robust protection on the Bus Pins (as in many RS-485 applications the bus pins are the ones that are more likely to be exposed to the outside world which would give more chances for larger ESD events).

    Best,

    Parker Dodson
