DS280MB810: SigCon Architect doesn't load configuration

Part Number: DS280MB810

Hello TI Team,

I have installed SigCon Architect 2 and 3 on my Windows 10 laptop PC. I've also installed SigCon Architect Updater for the DS280MB810. When I start the SigCon Architect 2 application, the following window is displayed:

After which the following browsing window is shown:

And then, I don't know what files it is looking for and even if I did, I wouldn't know where to find it. On a whim I selected the DS280MB810.lvlibp file shown, but got the following dialog box in response:

Which obviously is the incorrect file. So, I then click "OK", which brings me back to the browsing window at which I click "Cancel" and immediately click "Ignore All" at the first window above. Doing so, brings me the following last and frustrating windows:

Which when I click "OK" brings me to the SigCon Architect Window shown alongside, and that basically offers no functionality whatsoever.

We can continue on this forum to debug my issue, or alternatively, you can email me at mark.patton@newwavedv.com and we can debug via email or zoom. Let me know.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Regards,

-Mark

  • Hi Mark,

Thanks for the detailed information regarding your issue.  The DS280MB810 SigCon Architect profile uses SigCon Architect 2, so we can focus on version 2.

On the Sigcon Architect download page, there are two downloads for v2.  One comes with the labview runtime engine embedded (wRTE), and the other does not.  Which version did you install?  If you installed the version without the runtime engine, could you please try installing the version with runtime engine (wRTE) and seeing if this behaves any differently?

    Thanks,

    Drew

  • Hi Drew,

Yes, I installed the version with runtime engine (wRTE). It was download snlc055e.zip.

  • Hi Mark,

Thanks for clarifying.  This seems like an unusual issue, I haven't observed this before.

I have a couple basic ideas.

    1) Could you try uninstalling and reinstalling?

    2) I don't recall if the installer allows you to select an install location.  If so, could you try using the default location?

    3) If you continue to see the first message, try directing browsing to the "Re-Driver Device GUI.lvlibp" file.  This is typically located at the path below.

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\SigCon Architect EVM GUI\Shared Library\Re-Driver Device GUI.lvlibp

    Thanks,

    Drew

  • Hi Drew,

First, to directly answer your question.. I tried uninstalling and reinstalling. I used the default location. I directly browed to the C:\ location you indicated. Nothing changed, same thing occurred as before. Therefore, SigCon Architect still doesn't function on my work Windows 10 laptop PC..

Second, I installed SigCon Architect wRTE on my home Windows 11 laptop PC where I have admin privileges, with the thought that perhaps that would help. It seemed to install fine, but when I run the app I get this dialog box:

I then downloaded LabVIEW runtime directly from the NI website and installed it (both 32 and 64-bit versions). But, I still run into this dialog box when starting SigCon Architect. So, I've run into a second dead-end apparently on my home Windows 11 laptop PC..

Third, I dug out my old Windows 7 laptop PC (yep still have it) and installed SigCon Architec wRTE as administrator on that one. Things go OK until the installer stalls out giving me this window:

Where the installer seems to want me answer the 'acceptlicenses' question without popping up a dialog box from which I can answer the question. Stuck, stalled out. So, I've run into a third dead-end apparently on my home Windows 7 laptop PC.

I'm at a loss. Something's gotta give. I need serious tech assistance from TI on this one. I have brand spanking new prototype boards arriving in 1.5 weeks that have the DS280MB810 on them, and I need to program them and perform I2C lab queries to those chips.

    HELP.

  • Hi Mark,

This is puzzling.  We regularly use SigCon Architect with Windows 10 and have not encountered this issue.  I also tried uninstalling and reinstalling SigCon Architect and did not run into this.  I'll send you a meeting invite to quickly go over this tomorrow.

    Thanks,

    Drew

  • HI Drew,

Thanks for the online meeting yesterday and for helping me get SigCon Architect to work on my laptop PC.

The crucial insight was to realize that the desktop shortcuts provided by the SigCon Architect Installer, were bad. By going directly to 'C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\SigCon Architect EVM GUI\SigCon Architect.exe' and starting the tool, everything worked. After our meeting I created a shortcut to the executable from Windows Explorer and copied that shortcut to my desktop, replacing the Installer provided shortcut. My shortcut works and I am now able to start the tool from the desktop.

You may want to inform your application SW team that the desktop shortcut they provide during installation is bad.

Thanks again for your help. I consider this case closed.

  • Hi Mark,

Glad that things seem to be working now.  Thank you for letting us know that the issue seems to lie in the desktop shortcut.  This is something we'll look into.

    Thanks,

    Drew
