SN75DP159: Extending HDMI distance.

Part Number: SN75DP159

We currently use a DP159 to drive HDMI signals to a monitor.

If we wish to retain the use of the HDMI connectors, is there a "simple" means to extend the transmission distance? That is, a better part than the DP159?

Or is the only effective means to use repeaters in the cable run, or change to a different type of cable (Cat6 )?

  • Hi,

DP159 TX has a PRE_SEL pin that can provide -2dB de-emphasis compensation. If the extended cable exceeds its compensation capability, then you will need to use a repeater in the cable or to have a cable that has a better loss.
