DP83848C: Size of 48-Pin LQFP Power Pad?

Part Number: DP83848C

The data sheet for the DP83848VV in the 48-LQFPpackage TI refers to as its "PT package" apparently has a 49th pin in the form of an underside Power Pad.

Is this true?  There's ambiguity about this because the package drawing in latter pages of the data sheet refers to an underside power pad but the subsequent footprint drawing on the following page doesn't show the power pad at all.

The package drawing refers in a footnote to TI technical paper SLMA002 as having more information on the power pad.  I chased this technical paper and it has nothing on pad dimensions.

Thanks for any help you can give on this.  Would like to keep my spot in our PCB lay-out queue.  Actual DP83848VV parts are scarce in US disty.

  • Hi Jim,

Are you referring to the HLQFP or LQFP package? The LQFP package doesn't have a ground pad, while the HLQFP does.

    Thank you,

    Evan

  • Thanks, Evan.  The qty=191 parts in Mouser's US inventory is the CVV version, which is the PT (or LQFP) package.

So you're saying the narrow temp version has no underside power pad, but the wider temp HLQFP version does.

Thanks for this clarification.  Our application is for ordinary room temperatures, so I'm fine with the pad-less version that Mouser stocks.

    Very grateful for this forum.
