DS100MB203: Soft Error Rate

Part Number: DS100MB203
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS100BR410

Hello,

Is there any information on SER (soft error rate) of DS100MB203 and DS100BR410 devices?

Best regards,
Shinichi Yokota

  • Hi Shinichi,
The qual. reports have MTFB/FIT estimates.

The reports can be found by scrolling at the way to the right on the OPN in the devices homepage.

The MTFB/FIT estimates are the same for both DS100MB203 & DS100BR410.

    Regards,

    Vicente

  • Vicente,

    Thanks for your feedback.

Now I understand that there is no information on SER but MTBF/FIT estimates are available for these devices.

I'd like to ask some additional questions.

    • Although the SER information is not available for the DS100MB203 and the DS100BR410, is it correct to understand that a soft error can occur on these devices?
    • If yes, can a soft error cause a signal transmission failure and/or an I2C bus communication error?

    Best regards,
    Shinichi Yokota

  • Hi Shinichi,

Does customer have certain concerns? This is a typical question asked for our devices.

    1. That is correct, a soft error can occur. It contains digital circuitry and like any digital device, a SER can occur.

Some additional TI info on SER can be found here

    2. That is correct given that we have digital registers that control signal transmission, it's possible a SER can impact the signal transmission.

    Regards,

    Vicente
