AM26LS32A: Abnormal output and multiple pins have leakage

Hi Team,

Customer found some AM26LS32A are damaged in their products. Based on FA analysis(IV curve), there are multiple pins have leakage.

We think EOS/ESD may cause this situation, and we got the schematic and some waveform about this device:

1. Schematic

2. Bad device(CH1 and CH2 are input, CH3 is output)

3. Good device(CH1 and CH2 are input, CH3 is output)

Could you please help check them and provide your professional advice? Thanks in advance.

    So it looks like the the output to one of the receivers is not able to output a logic high voltage effectively. What is the load on CH3? Is it just the scope probe or this some loading?

    So based on the information I have now - I think one of two things is happening:

    1. There could be some loading issues that are causing too much current to be sourced on the receiver outputs - I don't think this is as likely as the next possibility as you have units that look fine - but its something I still want to verify.

    2. It could be EOS damage on the R pin - this pin doesn't have a lot of internal protection and there could be multiple failure mechanisms possible but some common ones are:

    2a) Transient voltage spike on the receiver output that fries an ESD cell on the device.

    2b) An larger than expected ESD strike during assembly or manufacturing 

    2c) Loading requesting too much current causing the junction to fail due to overheating.

    This isn't an exhaustive list but it some more common issues - if you can provide a little more detailed schematic on what the device is connected to it may help me to determine possible points of concern.

    Please let me know so we can dig down into this problem a bit deeper.
