TCAN1043A-Q1: mode identification

Part Number: TCAN1043A-Q1

Is there a way to identify each mode state currently transitioning (standby, normal, silent, gotosleep, sleep)?

  • Hi Oaku,

The TCAN1043A-Q1 state machine map on page 27 of the datasheet describes the mode of the device on power-on and the specific steps needed to transition to/from each mode (standby, normal, silent, gotosleep, sleep).

Please let me know if this answers your question.

    Regards,
    Tyler

  • Thank you for answering.

The table above shows that you should be in this mode by operating EN or STB, but I would like to know if there is a way to check which mode you are actually in.

Looking at the data sheet, I think that there is only a method for identifying the following table, but if there is another method, please let me know.

  • Hi Oaku,

The TCAN1043A does not have any built in SPI registers like the TCAN114x series of devices that can read back data of internal registers to tell the user what state the CAN device is in (standby, normal, sleep, etc.) For the TCAN1043A, the only way to know what state the device is in is to monitor the driver state and the INH pin.

    Regards,

    Tyler
