DS90UB953A-Q1: How to estimate a camera supported by DS90UB953A-Q1 or not

Part Number: DS90UB953A-Q1

In DS90UB953A-Q1 data sheet, it mention that

    1. FPD-Link III 4.16-Gbps Serializer with CSI-2 Interface for 2.3MP/60fps Cameras

    2. D-PHY v1.2 and CSI-2 v1.3 compliant system interface Up to 4 data lanes at 832 Mbps per each lane.

If a camera with resolution  1900x1600  RAW10  60fps  and MIPI data rate is 800Mbps @ 4 lanes,

this is 3MP/60 fps camera  >  2.3MP/60fps but its MIPI output data rate is under  832Mbps (max bandwidth DS90UB953A-Q1 can support),

can I say  this camera can be supported by the DS90UB953 ?

I mean  that if  a  CSI-Camera with  mipi output data stream  <  832 Mbps  , then I can say the camera can be compatiable with UB953 regardless of its resolution  ?

thanks

  • Sorry , I would like the to modify the question

  • Hi Stephen,

I'm currently looking into this, and will provide an update within the next 24 hours.

  • Hi Stephen,

    Thank you for your patience.

can I say  this camera can be supported by the DS90UB953 ?

Using the specifications that you provided, I calculated the estimated output CSI-2 data rate for the image sensor. The estimated output data rate that I calculated meets the per lane CSI-2 data rate specification provided by the DS90UB953A-Q1 datasheet. Therefore, the DS90UB953A-Q1 should be able to support an image sensor with the specifications that you have provided.

Your understanding is correct. When determining if a serializer is compatible with an image sensor, you need to calculate the estimated CSI-2 output data rate of the image sensor and see if it falls within the CSI-2 data rate range specification provided by the DS90UB953A-Q1 datasheet.
