TRS3232E-Q1: Short to 24V Batt

Part Number: TRS3232E-Q1

Can the outputs be protected against short to battery in a 24V system? So the outputs should be protected up to 32V. Thanks.

  • See the absolute maximum ratings: ± 13.2 V or ±25 V.

  • Hi Ovidiu,

Console side logic pins (ROUT and DIN)  are not protected against a short to 24V or 32V.

The Bus side pins (DOUT and RIN) are protected to +/-13.2V (DOUT) and +/-25V (RIN)

So the bus side receiver pins can survive a short to 24V - the other pins cannot and none of the pins can handle a 32V short. There would need to be additional protection on the line to protect the IC pins in cases of shorts.
