DS15BA101: DS15BA101 and DS15EA101 are used for SPI signal

Part Number: DS15BA101
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS15EA101,

Hello team,

My customer has a question about DS15BA101 and DS15EA101.
They are considering to use them after converting differential signal from SPI signal to expand with long cable.
In this situation, they have some following questions.

1) How many hertz can a low-frequency signal pass through?
2) Is communication difficult unless 1 and 0 change periodically?
3) In the case of SPI communication, is it possible to pass the cs signal? We are currently considering the operation of 25MHz clock and 200kHz cs period (high period 180ns, Low 4820ns) by SPI communication.

Your advice is appreciated.

  • Greetings,

These devices are not used to transfer SPI signals. SPI signals are considered as low frequency. These devices operate and have been characterized for higher than 100MBps operation.

  • Nasser-san,

Thank you for your comment. The customer has additional questions. Would you please advise?

    1) DS15BA101 can support  DC~1.5Gbps in ds.  So DS15BA101 can support  SPI signal. Is it correct?
    2) DS15EA101 has LOS Detection. When Low frequency signal like SPI signal inputs to DS15EA101, LOS detection works. Is it correct?

    Your advice is appreciated.

  • Greetings Tamazaki-San,

1). Reading data sheet very closely it seems minimum data rate could be 1.5Gbps. Please note the followings from DS15BA101 data sheet:

2). Typically for LOS detection there is a bandpass filter. High cut off could be in order of 700 or 800MHz. For a reliable device operation we should stay within the data sheet limits.

  • Nasser-san,

Thank you for your comment. I understand.

Although I would like to ask you additional things, let me ask you directly since it is including the customer information.
