TMUXHS4212: RESVD1 and HS data connection questions

Part Number: TMUXHS4212

Hello,

I have some application questions regarding the TMUXHS4212IRKST part.

  1. The proper connection for the RESVD1 and RESVD1 pins (reserved pins)
    1. SLLA552 checklist advises NC
    2. SLASEP7A datasheet says tie to Vcc
  2. The high-speed differential data connections to the MUX are AC coupled on all ports (we don’t have control of this)
    1. Datasheet advises a 10k bias connection to 0 to 1.8V
    2. Is any voltage in that range OK, or should it be biased at the center of range (0.9V)?
    3. Are special HF resistors needed for the 10K terminations for use at 10Gbps (most resistors show substantial impedance reduction at 5GHz)?

Thanks,
Adam

  • Hi Adam,

    Thank you for your question.

    1. To clarify, are you referring to RSVD1 and RSVD2? If yes, these pins should be connected to Vcc. These pins are reserved for test mode, and if they are not connected to Vcc, device may enter test mode.
    2. For bias -  data sheet section 9.1 on page 11.
      1. 10 kΩ to GND or any other bias voltage in the range of 0 – 1.8 V for each A[0/1][p/n] pin is recommended.
      2. Any voltage in the range 0-1.8V.
      3. HF resistors are recommended for higher data rates.

    Best,

    SLW
