DP83TC814R-Q1: MDIO (SMI) Interface

Part Number: DP83TC814R-Q1

Hi,

Good Day. This component needs a default config and I want to know if all of the required config (Table 8-17) can be done via the MDIO (SMI) interface. Could you let me know how this is done?

Please advise. Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hi Ray,

Except strap on RX_D3 (i.e., choice of CLKOUT pin), all configurations can be done via SMI interface.

  • Hi Gokul,

Good Day. Another query from the customer, please see below. Thank you very much.

I explain my sequence, could you explain to me if this is possible?

    - In first: I configure an HW bootstraps mode in "default mode" (look at the picture). So, the MAC interface Selection bootstraps (table 8-21) are configured in SGMII.

    - Next: I would like to configure the RGMII mode (align, TX / RX interface delay or TX & RX internal delay mode) via the SMI (MDIO) interface. It is possible? If yes, what is the register?

    Best Regards,

    Ray Vincent

  • Hello Ray,

    Good day to you too!!

The sequence is exactly how it is to be done.

For RGMII mode enable, the following registers should be programmed

    1. 0x0608 = 0x007B //SGMII disable
    2. 0x0600 = 0x0038 //RGMII enable
    3. 0x0602 = 0x0000 or 0x0001 or 0x0002 or 0x0003 //Enabling TX, RX shift
