TI SmartRF Flash Programmer exe stuck and crashes

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2541

Hi, We are currently having issues in production testing when invoking/pressing the Read IEEE button, and it gets stuck very often.

The PC is installed with windows10 x64 and it looks like the computer make a difference, because we are using two PC's where one PC has 10% cases of getting stuck and the other is about 4%.

  • Hi Chris,

FLASH-PROGRAMMER was last updated to support Windows 7, so l gather that little to no stability testing has been performed for Windows 10.  I will ask the Tools Team for more feedback.  There could also exist a susceptibility involving the connection between the PC and CC2541 hardware.  Have you tested this with a TI EVM as well, or requested a board design review from TI?

    Regards,
    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

I really appreciate your quick reply on this matter. Have not tested it with an evaluation module. After looking for solutions in terms of software changes that turns out to be not helpful, I am back looking for any existing susceptible connection between the PC and the CC2541. I quickly changed the connection of the CC debugger USB directly to PC from a hub connection, did not observed much improvement. Started to look into the wirings and made some hardware changes, making the DD,DC and RESET wirings connection of the CC debugger to CC2541 short as possible, reduced it to 15cm from about 60cm, with the impression of long wirings maybe susceptible to slow response of CC2541 device to the programmer transitions. It works wonder, it turns out to be stable, I made 3000 looping test and it caused me no trouble.

I may say requesting a board design review from TI is unnecessary.  Smiley

Thank you so much for your insights Ryan.

    BR,

    Chris
