AM26C31M: OUTPUT VOLTAGE

NEED A CLARITY IN OUTPUT SIDE VOLTAGE LEVEL .DATA SHEET IS CONFUSING .SIMULATION MODEL IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR THIS PART .I NEED SINGLE ENDED TO DIFFERENTIAL OUTPUT .PLEASE CONFORM THE OUTPUT VOLTAGE (BETWEEN 1Y AND 1Z PIN) WAVEFORM OR VOLTAGE LEVEL WHEN APPLYING 5V SIGLE ENDED IINPUT  IN 1A PIN .

  • The output is designed for RS-422, i.e., it is able to generate a voltage drop of ±2 V over a 100 Ω termination resistor. The common-mode output voltage does not really matter.

  • HI Krishna,

    Output voltage is defined by RS-422 standard - a minimum of 2V across a 100 ohm load on the differential line - as Clemens also noted. 

    Beyond that the driver is pretty linear - so higher impedance loads will have larger voltages across them and the increase is proportional to load increase (for the most part)  - as it approaches VCC there will be a cutoff due to voltage drops across diodes on the driver output so it shouldn't reach VCC but be a couple diode drops under. We don't characterize outside of the RS-422 standard for this device - but the architecture used is pretty similar. Going below 100 Ohms you may see non-linear behavior and could damage the device.
