TUSB8044A: LPM mode

Part Number: TUSB8044A

Dear team,

My customer are using TUSB8044A as USB Hub application.

But There is thermal issue on TUSB8044A when USB storage is asserted.

Can our device support LPM(Link Power management) function?

If not, How can we debugging this thermal issue and manage power when USB storage device is asserted to TUSB8044A?

And Is there any USB device supporting LPM function?

Please let me know your opinion on this request.

Thank you.

  • Hello Brian,

    Thank you for your reply.

    1. What is meaning of U0/U1/U2? U0 is normal mode, U1/U2 is sleep and suspend mode. Is it right?

    2. How can I configure this mode selection?

     - We can control  U1U2 enable and disable at Register offset 5h[5], how about U0 mode?, When we set U1/U2 to disable, turn to U0 mode? is it right?

    Thank you.

  • There are four Link power states in USB 3.0, which are explained below:
    • U0: Fully Powered; Active State for data transfer.
    • U1: Standby with Fast Recovery. No data transfer in this state and the power consumed is less than U0.
    • U2: Standby with Slow Recovery. ...
    • U3: Suspend State.

you can control  U1U2 enable and disable at Register offset 5h[5. u0 is normal working mode.

    Regards

    Brian
