DP83869HM: DP83869HM power supply requirements (case number is CS1764609)

Part Number: DP83869HM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83869EVM, TPS735

Hello,

we want to use DP83869HM for our design. In the datasheet, a minimal ramp-up time of 0.5ms is listed applicable to all power rails. However, if we look at the schematic of the evalkit (DP83869EVM) some of the LDOs used do not support soft-start or similar, e.g. TPS73525DRBR for VDDA2P5. Can we safely copy the power supply design from the evalkit or not?

Thank you,

Betty

  • Hi Bettina,

The specifications for ramp time from the datasheet should be followed to guarantee the functionality of the device. Please ensure the ramp time is greater than 0.5ms and less than 100ms.

    Thanks,

    David

  • Hi David,

    thanks for your response.

I wonder why TI uses TPS735 with fast start-up capability (45us) in the reference design?

Can you recommend an alternative regulator for VDDA2P5, which meets the specification?

    Thank you

    Bettina

  • Hi Bettina,

The datasheet has the requirements for guaranteed operation of the part. I do not have the history of why that part was chosen for the EVM, but for the most robust operation please follow the datasheet guidance.

Please create a new E2E thread for the TPS team, they can help you select a product that meets our requirements.

    Thanks,

    David
