TUSB1004: TUSB1004 supports Type C pure USB function

They can still use TUSB1104 for USB3.2 Gen 2 x 1. The TUSB1104 will automatically detect whether or not the interface is operating at USB 3.2 x2 or x1. If it determines the USB interface is operating at USB 3.2 x1, then it will disable the unused lane to conserve power.

Is TUSB1104 typo? Do you mean They can still use TUSB1004 for USB3.2 Gen 2 x 1? They are asking TUSB1004 for USB3.2 Gen 2 x 1.

TUSB1004 has two independent channels that are designed to support two USB3.2 Type-A connectors. It was not designed for USB Type-C.

TUSB1104 supports Type-C Gen 3.2 x 2 or x 1.

Is there a way to make TUSB1004 work technically work on Type-C? Customer wants to use TUSB1004 to align with their sourcing strategy.

From the block diagram, is this a USB host that supports USB3.2 x 2? If this is the case, then I will not use TUSB1004 since TUSB1004 has two independent state machines.  If link is operating in USB3.2 x2 and goes to low power state (U1, U2, or U3), then one state machine will get stuck in low power state.

Yes, host can support USB3.2 Gen2 x2.

So, it’s not recommended to design in TUSB1004 for this application, right?

We have another thinking; Can we design in TUSB1044 in Type C?

Like below design, change USB PD to CC logic, and leave connected for SBU signals. Is it ok for only USB3 support by TUSB1044?
