Hi Mandan,
What is the application for this mux? Is this for a new system, or are you looking to replace a competitor part with a TI mux?
For our muxes, we do not have any FS-specific muxes, so I would recommend you to look at the TS3USB221 and the TMUXHS221. The TS3USB221 is one of our more popular muxes, and has different variations depending on ESD needs (TS3USB221A/E), while the TMUXHS221 is a newer device which has similar performance while coming in a different package.
Please let me know if you have any other questions!
Thanks,
Ryan
Hi Ryan,
Sorry for the delay in the reply. I think the TS3USB221 device would be okay for us, also we will add external diodes to suppress ESD transients.
This is a new application.
We are trying to use the switch for providing the path for external USB connection for debugging of 2 processors in our PCBA and both of them are in device mode.
I am attaching the config used for our use case. Can you check once and confirm if this is fine.
I have a specific question - I am assuming that the switch is analog and does not differentiate on whether the Host/ Device end is connected to Pole end (D+, D-)or the Throw end (1D, 2D). Also the application is 12Mbps bit rate only. Do you foresee any issues with this configuration on the enumeration or signal attenuation/ losses? I have control of the VBUS SENSE of the both devices(processor 1&3) and I can enable and control both switches from Host device(Processor 2) only.
I am attaching an image here. Please go through this.
Hi Mandan,

This use-case looks fine to me, I don't believe there should be any issues with this use-case or setup you provided.
I have a specific question - I am assuming that the switch is analog and does not differentiate on whether the Host/ Device end is connected to Pole end (D+, D-)or the Throw end (1D, 2D).
That is correct, the mux needs to be switched by using an external signal, such as from an MCU or another GPIO.
I have control of the VBUS SENSE of the both devices(processor 1&3) and I can enable and control both switches from Host device(Processor 2) only.
So do you plan on using Processor 2 to control the select pins of both the muxes? If that is your intention and it will do what you need it to, then that should be fine.
Please let me know if you need any clarification or if there are any other questions!
Thanks,
Ryan
