Does LIN BUS have special specifications for ESD protection?

    ESD protection components will provide system level ESD protection according to IEC61000-4-2 and clamp ESD pulses to much lower voltages acceptable to sensitive circuitry.

    LIN bus itself doesn't have special specifications for ESD protection to my understanding, that is at the discretion of the designer. There are many automotive projects that must meet test requirements according to a standard such as IEC62228-2 that will require ESD protection up to 25kV.

    What general electrostatic protection components are you referring to here? Varistors? ESD diodes? Capacitors? Also what is the specific application here?

    I would consider ESD1LIN24 a "general electrostatic protection component". It is an ESD diode that offers IEC ESD/Surge ratings and clamps overvoltage events above the breakdown voltage to protect sensitive downstream circuitry

    Some of the specifications were tailored to accomodate LIN bus characteristics such as the working voltage of 24 V to protect the diode from short to battery events in 12 V battery automotive systems.
