AM26LS31: Meaning of Output off-state voltage

Hi,

The maximum absolute rating for "Output off-state voltage" is specified as 5.5V maximum. Is it correct to understand that "Output off-state voltage" means that the voltage that can be applied to the output terminal when no power supply voltage is applied is 5.5V?

Thanks,

Conor

  • The absolute maximum ratings table specifies limits that your circuit must respect, i.e., when the output is off (due to the driver enable pins), you must not apply an external voltage larger than 5.5 V to the outputs. (See section 8.3.2 of the datasheet.)

As far as I can see, it is not specified what happens when the device is powered off.

(Consider using the AM26C31, which has better electrical characteristics.)

  • Hi Conor,

The output pins are hi-z when VCC = 0V. The "output off-state voltage" is when the outputs are hi-z - which happens when the device is disabled through the enable pins or when VCC = 0V.

    Best,
