I need a part which can replace CAN interface for vehicle interfacing. will this part be okay for vehicle interfacing?

Hi Ajay,

Yes, the DP83848 can be used to connect two interfaces via a standard ethernet cable.

MAC <-> DP83848 PHY <-> RJ45 Ethernet Cable <-> Receiving Board/Interface

The standard RJ45 ethernet cable uses 4 twisted pairs for communication.

There is another type of ethernet cable used in automotive applications called MATEnet. This uses a single pair cable and WILL NOT work with the DP83848.

Please see our PHY Selection Tool to filter our other Automotive PHYs. The DP83848Q-Q1 is the only automotive PHY that uses the standard RJ45 connector.
