TCAN4550-Q1: Isup; Supply current, sleep mode

Part Number: TCAN4550-Q1

Hi Teams,

Please tell me about the supply current for Isup.

The datasheet states that Isup is 25µA (Typ) and 42µA (Max).

What are the conditions (applied voltage and ambient temperature) at Typ and Max?

If you can calculate the Typ and Max values for Isup from "Figure 6-1. Isup vs Vsup Sleep Mode", please share your thoughts.

Best regards.

  • Hello,

The ambient test conditions for this specification is listed as -40C to +85C and the VSUP voltage range is 5.5V to 30V.  The conditions for the typical value would be 25C and VSUP = 12V.

The max value would be from the worst case temperature and voltage corner, which in this case should be both at higher voltage and higher temperature.  Therefore the max conditions would be 85C and VSUP = 30V.

The figure 6-1 curves are typical curves collected on a device and may not show the statistical margin included in the max specification to cover device-to-device variance and fabrication process shifts.

    Regards,

    Jonathan

  • Thank you for your answer.
For Typ value (12V, 25°C), Figure 6-1 says Isup=24µA, while 6.6 Supply Characteristics says Isup=25µA.
Is there any reason for this difference?

  • Figure 6-1 is data collected on one unit across varying voltage and temperature conditions to represent "typical" values.

The specification table's typical and max values are based on data collected from multiple units as well as design simulations representing semiconductor process shifts.  Therefore the table's typical value covers device-to-device variance and the unit used in Fig 6-1 correlates to this overall average within 1uA.

  • Thank you for your answer.

    I understand it well.
