DS36954: DS3695N/NOPB Replacement

Part Number: DS36954
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65C1167E, THVD1420

Hi TI,

Could you recommend the correct replacement part for DS3695N?

  • Hi Nick,

The DS3695 device is our only 4tx 4rx 485 transceiver. We would need to use a multi-discrete solution to get to the same channel count.

Do you need the 20Mbps support or is 10Mbps enough?

Do you need the half duplex set up? (all of our 2tx 2rx are full duplex but we may be able to just short the differential pins to make it half duplex)

    -Bobby

  • Hey Bobby,

10Mbps is enough. We would need a half duplex set up.

    Best regards,
    Nick Rutten

  • Hi Nick,

It looks like maybe SN65C1167E would be the best fit. You would need to short the receiver channel with the driver channel on the differential side to make it a half duplex set up though. The only problem I see with this device is the Driver/receiver enable pins channels both channels (2 channel device) so you won't be able to control an individual channel.

If you prefer to use a single channel device w/ a half duplex set up (since the dual channel devices are limited to full and limited in channel control) you could look at THVD1420. You would need 4x of these to get the 4TX/4RX channels.
