DS90UH948-Q1: question about DS90UH948-Q1

Part Number: DS90UH948-Q1

Hello:

1. When HDCP content protection reaches the deserializer, the output data from the deserializer to the display is decrypted. How to configure registers to enable UH948 UH949 HDCP function?

2. Can you provide information on the HDCP testing and certification process?

3. The manual introduces HDCP. What registers do customers need to configure to enable HDCP functionality?

4. After the HDCP function is enabled, can it be directly handed over to a third-party (ATC) certification agency for HDCP certification and licensing?

5. Which HDCP license is more suitable for the process of HDCP certification? HDCP v1.4, as shown in the figure below, should be selected between these two versions. Is your understanding correct?

  • Hi Jimmy,

    1. When HDCP content protection reaches the deserializer, the output data from the deserializer to the display is decrypted. How to configure registers to enable UH948 UH949 HDCP function?

On the UH949 deserializer, set main page register 0xC3[2] = 1 and main page register 0xC3[0] = 1.

    2. Can you provide information on the HDCP testing and certification process?

This question seems more appropriate for DCP. Note that TI simply licenses the HDCP protocol for use in FPD-Link components.

    3. The manual introduces HDCP. What registers do customers need to configure to enable HDCP functionality?

    See above response to (1).

    4. After the HDCP function is enabled, can it be directly handed over to a third-party (ATC) certification agency for HDCP certification and licensing?

    See above response to (2).

    5. Which HDCP license is more suitable for the process of HDCP certification? HDCP v1.4, as shown in the figure below, should be selected between these two versions. Is your understanding correct?

See above response to (2). Please see https://www.digital-cp.com/licensing for more information.

  • Hi Nikolas:

    1、On the UH949 deserializer, set main page register 0xC3[2] = 1 and main page register 0xC3[0] = 1.

This is the HDCP that enables encryption registers. So how can the corresponding deserializer decryption register enable HDCP(UH948)?

2、This question seems more appropriate for DCP. Note that TI simply licenses the HDCP protocol for use in FPD-Link components.

What else do customers need to do after the HDCP function is enabled? Or is it directly handed over to a third-party organization for HDCP certification?

3、For HDCP v1.4 and other version, which version of license does TI recommend using for authentication?

  • Hello Jimmy,

This is the HDCP that enables encryption registers. So how can the corresponding deserializer decryption register enable HDCP(UH948)?

Apologies for the typo - the 949 is a serializer. To enable the encryption on the SER side, set main page register 0xC3[2] = 1 and main page register 0xC3[0] = 1, as stated above.

On the 948 deserializer side, no registers need to be updated. The output of the deserializer is automatically outputted as decrypted content.

For HDCP v1.4 and other version, which version of license does TI recommend using for authentication?

TI does not have one particular recommendation for authentication. All that is required for UH device usage is an HDCP adopter license.

    Best,

    Nikolas
