SN65DPHY440SS: Query Regarding Part Number SN65DPHY440SS for Lengthy MIPI DSI Routing

Part Number: SN65DPHY440SS

Hi,

We are currently in the process of planning our project, and we intend to utilize the part number SN65DPHY440SS for routing MIPI DSI signals over a length of 2000mm. In this regard, we have a few queries and would greatly appreciate your assistance:

  1. Considering the length of 2000mm, would one re-timer be sufficient for signal integrity maintenance along the route?
  2. Alternatively, would it be advisable to employ multiple re-timers with appropriate intervals along the length to ensure optimal signal performance?

Furthermore, we would like to explore alternative parts or solutions that are suitable for re-driving signals over lengthy routes similar to this. Any recommendations or suggestions you could provide in this regard would be highly valuable.

Looking forward to your prompt response.

  • Hi,

What is the targeted data rate and what is the insertion loss of the 2000mm length?

The DPHY440 RX EQ can provide 4dB compensation at 500MHz and 5dB compensation at 750MHz,

The TX can also provide 2.5dB pre-emphasis compensation.

If the loss of this 2000mm length exceeds the DPHY440 compensation capability, then you would need to consider cascading multiple DPHY440 in order to provide more compensation.

    Thanks

    David
