TCA6418E: Controlling latching relays

Part Number: TCA6418E
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCAL6416, TCA6424A, TCAL9539

Hi there,

I'm trying to control a bunch of twin coil latching relays, part number EE2-3TNU. Will the TCA6418E be able to supply enough current to trigger the relay?

  • Catrin,

I am not as familiar with signal relays.

Is this spec describing the operating voltage and release voltage, is this similar to the turn ON voltage and OFF voltage of the relay?

TCA6418E is a 18-channel GPIO expander normally used for keypad scanner arrays.

    The GPIO's can sink IOL = 25mA

The GPIO's can source IOH = 10 mA.

Have you considered other IO expanders we offer, TCA6424A, TCAL9539, TCAL6416, etc.

I would think the sink and source current would be enough, but my knowledge of this signal relay is not good. Can I have help in understanding what spec I should be looking at?

    Regards,

    Tyler
