TCAN1042HG-Q1: Schematic Design Review

Part Number: TCAN1042HG-Q1

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

Could you please help to review the schematic and give some suggestions? Many thanks.

  • Hi Mahud,

    Here are some comments:

    1. VCC looks good, ensure in the layout that the 100 nF decoupling cap is placed near the device pin. Additionally, it is recommended to have ~100V rating.
    2. The STB pin is active high, but you may consider adding a pull-up resistor to VIO and/or pull-down resistor option(s)
    3. The CANH/L bus requires a 120 ohm termination. This can be achieved with a single 120-ohm resistor or a split termination implementation. Please refer to section 10.2.2.1 CAN Termination in the datasheet.
    4. You may consider adding a common mode choke bus filter option (if interested in filtering noise for EMC environments)

For reference, feel free to review the TI TCAN1042EVM schematic here in the user’s guide, page 3: TCAN Evaluation Module (Rev. A)

    Regards, Amy
