DS320PR1601: Design Help

Part Number: DS320PR1601
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS320PR810-SMP-EVM, , DS320PR810

Tool/software:

Hello E2E Experts,

Good day.

Right now, I am considering designing a new project based on the DS320PR1601RSC-EVM User's Guide and DS320PR810-SMP-EVM.
These are my requirements, please review and advise me.

Question A
- I need a DS320PR160RSC-EVM Software Development Tool Kit such as LabView and so on at Windows OS PC/

Question B
Is it possible to use DS320PR810-SMP-EVM to interface other logic instead of the PCIe Switch Board, in this case, it should use Riser Card and DS320PR810-SMP-EVM using PCIe Connection Cable.

Question C
Is it possible to interface DS320PR1601RSC-EVM and Microchip Switch Board?

For your reference,
I will explain my target application, which project title is "Quantum ALU".
Quantum ALU is optical logic for ultra high fast computing, it is possible that those basic commands can execute more than 20GHz speed within one reference clock, which are AND, OR, NOT, Exclusive OR, and Exclusive AND. Those commands can execute within one reference optical clock, which is laser pulse clock. We call it "Qantum Pulse".
I would like to use a DS320PR1601-EVM board with a PCIe Switch Board to interface EOM(Electro Optical Module) and Photoreceiver, which will be implemented on Windows PC.
EOM(Electro Optical Module) change digital pulse to optical pulse. Photoreceiver change optical pulse to digital pulse.
EOM(Electro Optical Module) can be called "Modulator".
If DS320PR1601-EVM Board can interface with 2 pcs of  DS320PR810-SMP-EVM using PCIe Riser Card Cable with accessories
and DS320PR810-SMP-EVM interface with EOM(Electro Optical Module) and Photoreciver using some cable accessories.
DS320PR810-SMP-EVM send signals to EOM(Electro Optical Module) then EOM(Electro Optical Module) send signal to Quantum ALU,
After Computation at Quantum ALU send data to Phtoreceiver then Photoreceiver send data to DS320PR810-SMP-EVM.
If this is possible, I need some software development tool kit for DS320PR1601RSC-EVM, such as Labview and Phyton.
Please let me know those software development tool kit download link.
This is the best scenario, I thought.
If this is not possible, I should use a PCIe Switch Board based on Broadcom or Microchip instead of DS320PR160RSC-EVM.
One example is "Gen5 PCIex16 Breaker Module (https://quarch.com/products/gen5-pcie-x16-breaker-module/).

  • Hi,

Please see my replies to the customer questions below with some follow-up questions. I think some of the questions may be cleared up by a block diagram of the intended configuration.

    1. The DS320PR1601 and DS320PR810 can be programmed via simple SMBus commands and/or external EEPROM. Additionally, each of these EVMs has an associated SigCon Architect GUI and device profile for EVM evaluation. This can be accessed by request if the customer's work email is registered with a myTI account on ti.com.
Could the customer please elaborate on the intended use for an SDK with the DS320PR1601 or DS320PR810?
    2. DS320PR810-SMP-EVM's DS320PR810 is designed to support PCIe 5.0, CXL 2.0, UPI 2.0, and other interfaces up to 32 Gbps.
Which other logic is intended to be interfaced to?
    3. DS320PR1601RSC-EVM can be interfaced with a PCIe Switch on the PCIe interface of the board in PCIe CEM form factor.

Note that both the DS320PR1601 and DS320PR810 devices are PCIe linear redrivers and do not contain PCIe switch functionality. They can be used to extend the PCIe insertion loss budget between PCIe Root Complex or Endpoint (ex. PCIe NIC, Switch, SSD, CPU, etc.).

Could the customer please provide a block diagram to better illustrate the intended configuration?

    Best,
    David

  • Hello David,

    Good day.

Could you help elaborate on the intended use for an SDK with the DS320PR1601 or DS320PR810?

    >>> Is it possible to use Labview? I can do Labview programming.

Which other logic is intended to be interfaced to?

    >>> I am looking for good solutions such as Microchip and so on.

One of them is Dolphin MXH532, which can be launched this Aug. Please refer to the attached file.

Could the customer please provide a block diagram to better illustrate the intended configuration?

    >>> Please refer to the attached file, which is a brief system block diagram.

  • Greetings,

Thanks for sending us the overall application block diagram. This is very helpful.

You can use either PR810 or PR1601 as you have shown in your presentation. You can get one of these EVMs and check this out. Please through friend request send us your email address.   We can provide you with access to the GUI to control the EVM and change settings - if needed.

    Regards, Nasser
