DS90LV028A: LVDS inputs present while device is not powered

Part Number: DS90LV028A

Tool/software:

Hello,

Do you have any concerns with LVDS signals being present on the device inputs when the device is not powered?

The datasheet states, "power down high impedance on LVDS inputs," and the recommended operating conditions for receiver input voltage is GND to 3V, which is independent of VCC.

There's also a comment in the datasheet that states, "the device operates for receiver input voltages up to VCC, but exceeding VCC turns on the ESD protection circuitry which clamps the bus voltages."  Could this be a long term reliability concern?

Best Regards,
Brian

  • Hi Brian,

I am checking on this and I will get back to you tomorrow.

    Thank you, Amy

  • Hi Brian,

Assuming the inputs are within the recommended operating conditions, there are no concerns regarding device deterioration or damage.

Notice the specification on input current (IN Input current) was tested using VCC = 0 V, VIN = 3.6 V, to the differential pins. (Datasheet pg. 5)

This is the expected measurable current seen if the device was run with an input, but unpowered.

    Hopefully this helps clarify! -Amy
