Hi Team,

We are using following CAN transceiver ICs in my project, for meeting component multi-sourcing requirement. As of now project status is C_ sample phase.

1. TCAN1463-Q1 or

2. TJA1463ATK.

We are using Transceiver in CAN FD mode. Arbitration phase 500kbps & Data phase is 5 MBPS.

We are facing below problem whenever using TCAN1463-Q1 IC. (No issue in TJA1463ATK IC)

Problem: When ever we are simulating the Sleep mode in ECU. ECU is continuously going to sleep and wake up modes due to CAN transceiver.

Observations:

Initially Transceiver will be moved to standby mode from Normal mode then moved in sleep mode.
During sleep mode transition the TCAN1463 INH is going to high( after 8 to 10 msec) without any trigger & it will not allow MCU to sleep mode.

Hi Giridhar,

Was there any CAN communication going on the bus? When the device recognizes any CAN traffic, it will automatically go to standby mode and drive the INH signal high to wake the rest of the system. Note that Vcc and Vio are not needed when in sleep mode, though it is no problem if these remain active. Please see 9.4.1.5.1 in datasheet.

Is there termination on the bus pins? CAN requires 60 Ohms total termination (usually 120 Ohms on each end) to work normally.

Thank you for the reply.

There is no CAN traffic on the bus but still INH pin changing high and low continuously.

VCC and VIO supplies are inactive during sleep mode.

CAN communication working properly during normal operations with external 60 Ohm or 120Ohm resistor during testing time.

Hi Giridhar,

Thanks for the clarification. It's wired cause nothing was waking up the device.

Would you please use an oscilloscope to capture INH, nSTB, and CAN signals? Just to confirm that those pins are working correctly.
