DS90LV001: Is it possible to use MLVDS to LVDS Buffer

Part Number: DS90LV001
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65MLVD2, DS90LV011A, SN65MLVD202A

Tool/software:

Dear Specialists,

My customer is looking for a buffer for MLVDS to LVDS and LVDS to MLVDS.

Is DS90LV001 possible to use for?

If not, could you please let us know the other suitable device?

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Shinichi

  • The electrical characteristics are somewhat different, but in many cases, LVDS and M-LVDS transceivers can be made compatible with each other without a separate buffer. What is the actual problem you're trying to solve?

  • Hi Clemens,

    Thank you for your reply.

The information I have is listed below.

    Could you please advise?

    ーーー

The customer would like to connect between MLVDS bus and LVDS.

If possible, they would like to extend the distance with a buffer

    Power Supply: 3.3V

    Data Rate: 100Mbps

I couldn't find a device that clearly stated LVDS output with MLVDS input (or MLVDS output with LVDS input).

    ーーー

I appreciate your great help and cooperation.

    Best regards,

    Shinichi

  • M-LVDS inputs have a wider common-mode range, and M-LVDS outputs have a higher drive strength. So you can use them with LVDS transceivers.

You could build an M-LVDS buffer with a full-duplex transceiver like the SN65MLVD202A/205A and connecting R to D. Alternatively, use a plain M-LVDS receiver like the SN65MLVD2/3 and connect it to a plain LVDS driver like the DS90LV011A/17A.

  • Hello,

I have been out of office and I will get back to you this week.

    Thank you, Amy
