Hi,

I am trying to connect to DP83TC811 PHY using TMS570 HDK (Using modified DP83640 TI example).  When I try to send the data to read PHY ID over SMI interface, I am not receiving anything back from the PHY.

I have attached the screen grabs from the scope showing clock and MDIO line.

Can you please provide some pointers? Do you have any sample code for this device.

    Thanks for sharing the MDC/MDIO waveforms. It looks like there may be some response from the PHY in some cases. Can you please use a logic analyzer or annotate the MDC/MDIO transactions as per section 4.3.4 of SNLA431. Let me know what register read/write is being attempted in each case.

    Is the PHY functional other than SMI communication? Meaning is link up happening and data throughput?

    Please also share a picture of your setup.

    Thanks for your reply, I will send you logic analyser data as soon as possible.

    As requested, I have attached pictures of my connection setup and also attached PHY eval board pictures (Modified PHY eval kit for MII interface as per the sepc)

    As TMS570 doesn't have PHY with automotive T1 capability, I am using external PHY.

    Other than MDC/MDIO communication, is the PHY functional? Are you seeing link up and data throughput? I would like to verify the PHY functionality to ensure PHY is not held in disable or reset state, etc. 

    Please share the logic analyzer shots when you get the chance.
