I submitted a case a month ago, TI specialist told me that the PHY cannot withstand 16V directly from the battery even if it is shorted at the connector.

But now,customers disagree with this,because they think PHY shoud follow <OA_Automotive_Ethernet_ECU_TestSpecification_Layer_1_100BASE-T1_v3.0>.
In this test specification, 5.1.4.1.2 OABR_CABLE_02: Cable diagnostics for near and far end short, PHY should detect the SHORT of both conductors to supply line(VBAT),far and near end.
could you help me to solve this problem?
