TUSB320: Will part work correctly if connected to USB-PD device?

Part Number: TUSB320

Tool/software:

Hi,

We are targeting the TUSB320HAIRWBR for a an UFP that can operate using USB-C default (500 mA) or mid-range (1.5A) 5V power.

Will this device operate correctly if it is plugged into a charger or DFP that supports USB-PD?  Specifically, if the DFP starts sending USB-PD messages over the CC lines, will the TUSB320HAIRWBR ignore the response and not be confused by the lines toggling will monitoring the Rd current (the USB-C power contract mechanism)?

Thanks,

Mike

" by the lines toggling while monitoring"

    Thanks,

  • Hi Mike,

The device will operate correctly if it is plugged into a charger, or DFP that supports USB-PD.

Specifically, if the DFP starts sending USB-PD messages over the CC lines, will the TUSB320HAIRWBR ignore the response and not be confused by the lines toggling will monitoring the Rd current (the USB-C power contract mechanism)?

TUSB320 is able to ignore USB-PD messages over the CC lines and not be confused. This is because TUSB320 is a CC controller and does not interfere in the USB-PD messages.

Let me know if you have any other questions.

    Best,
    J
