SN65LVDS93B: STM32H7R7L8 a 24-bit parallel interface to LVDS Conversion

Part Number: SN65LVDS93B

Tool/software:

Hello,

For our HMI project we decided to use STM32H7R7L8 MCU ( link: https://www.st.com/en/microcontrollers-microprocessors/stm32h7r7l8.html )

Can we use SN65LVDS93B to covert MCU's 24-bit parallel interface to LVDS and can we drive 1024*800 resolution Standart LVDS display with that configuration?

Is there going to be any issue or performance drop with this configuration?

Best regards,

Egemen Aksoy

  • Hi Egemen Aksoy,

Briefly reviewing the capabilities of the STM32H7R7L8, it appears the LCD-TFT block will fit most appropriately with the SN65LVDS93B pinout, although this needs to be confirmed from the MCU side that the pinouts will match (24 RGB + DE, HS, VS, CLK).

The frequency range for driving 1024 x 800 should be fine, as this is estimated at 58.98 MHz PCLK with 20% blanking. This is within the range of the SN65LVDS93B and STM32H7R7L8 input/output frequency capabilities.

I would focus on comparing the timing output of the MCU (Sections 6.3.30 and 6.3.31 of STM32H7R7L8 Datasheet) to the timing specification of the SN65LVDS93B (Section 7.6 Timing Requirements of SN65LVDS93B Datasheet), to ensure that the timings aligned in specifications.

You may also ensure that the specifications of the MCU under Section 6.3.1 General operating conditions meets that of the SN65LVDS93B Section 7.3 Recommended Operating Conditions. If any parameters are outside of the recommended operating conditions, the device cannot provide expected results.

Please let me know if you need any further assistance or clarification on any of these items, hope this helps!

    Best,

    Miguel
