TUSB8041: USB HUB DFP SS data and Type-C with PD

    For USB3 data, TUSB8041A and HD3SS3212 should  support SS signal transmission and direction recognition.

   For power supply , PI group should have recommendation.

TPS65987DDK and TPS55289 seem to be able to achieve the functionality we need, but their combination looks too complex. Do they require firmware development? Is there a separate hardware solution that does not rely on any controller or firmware?
If this is the only feasible solution, which reference design is closest to my application? Thank you very much for your help.

The TPS65987DDK implements a GUI so you do not need to develop any firmware. Here are a couple of reference designs you can refer to. They highlight the TPS65987D, but the TPS65987DDK is pin to pin with this device. The TPS65987DDK is just the latest device in that family of products implementing the newest firmware.

There are three questions that need help to answer:
1. We have also paid attention to the reference design PMP40801 before, and the programmable power supply used in it is TPS55288. Is there any other functional difference between this IC and the TPS55289 you recommended, especially in terms of power parameters (voltage, current, etc.)?
2. Regarding which pin TPS65987DDK should be connected to the SEL pin of HD3SS3212 to achieve Type-C direction recognition of USB3 signals.
3. We have seen other models such as TPS65987D and TPS65987DDJ pin to pin with the TPS65987DDK chip. Apart from the firmware version, are there any functional differences? Can it be directly substituted?

Since the GUI configuration of tps65987ddk requires a USB to IIC adapter, I tried ftdi ft4222h, which seems not to work well. Does tps6598x configuration tool only support some ftdi chips, or can you recommend an available ftdi model? Thank you!

Are you trying to program the EVM directly using the GUI? If so, you should be able to utilize the on board programmer which only requires a USB micro b connection to your laptop.
