TCA39306: What is the difference between TCA39306 and TCA9306?

Part Number: TCA39306

Tool/software:

What is the difference between TCA39306 and TCA9306?

Is there any feature for I3C bus level translation application of TCA39306 ?

  • Hi Chunjie,

TCA39306 supports I3C level translation applications while TCA9306 is strictly for I2C.

I am not sure what you mean by any feature, but TCA39306 does support level translation for I3C applications at 12.5 MHz SDR.

  • Hi Tyler,

What are the main differences in chip design?

If put in the same level transfer circuit (with same pull-up resistor and capacitance), will the two chip support the same data rate?

  • Hi Chunjie,

At a functional level, they are very similar. The TCA39306 would be the upgrade to the TCA9306 as TCA39306 supports I3C speeds (up to 12.5 MHz).

In short, TCA9306 does not support the same data rates as the TCA39306. If I can recall from the datasheet, TCA9306 is rated up to 400kHz.

    Regards,

    Tyler
