Could you clarify your question? If I understand your question correctly, the customer wants to use the DS90C383B with 18-bit color (6-bit RGB)? Why it is trying to apply 18-bit even though host signal input is 24-bit?

Because the host only supports 18-bit (565 RGB)output, but the LCD requires 24-bit input signals,So I hope to use a chip for the conversion，

Hi c h,

Yes the DS90CF383B can be used in 18 bit RBG to LVDS application. They will need to remap the RGB[7:0] MSB bits to RGB[5:0] and drop the LSB bits. Please see the following Application Note for more details (follow the pin formatting for "C385"): http://www.ti.com/lit/an/snla014/snla014.pdf
