AM26C31: Inquiry regarding the package marking of the AM26C31 series

Part Number: AM26C31

Tool/software:

Hi all,

I would like to inquire about the package marking as stated in the subject.

I purchased products under three different temperature conditions from the open market(mouser).

The familiar marking can only be found on the 'AM26C31M' product.

Are there any rules for package markings? If so, could you please explain them?

I'm inquiring because technical issues occur only with the 'AM26C31I' and 'AM26C31Q' products, whitch do not have markings.

Please refer to below pictures.

AM26C31I(-40 to 85°C), AM26C31Q(-40 to 125°C), AM26C31M(-55 to 125°C)

Regards.

  • Hi HC Kim,

The device markings have some information in the datasheet on page 18 and 19. This basically just tells how the device's name should be indicated on the top of the device.

The rules for the top markings can change sometimes (different fonts, sometimes we remove the G4 logo, other times the dot is changed with a line). We usually send a PCN out when a top marking is changed.

I'm inquiring because technical issues occur only with the 'AM26C31I' and 'AM26C31Q' products, whitch do not have markings.

Can you elaborate on this point? What exactly is the issue you are seeing?

Do you have a schematic for us to review?

  • Thank you for your response. I'm using the product to convert encoder signals from single to differential.

When I use a freezer to create low-temperature conditions, I intermittently experience an issue where the encoder input signals are received correctly, but there is no output.

At first, I thought the changed marking(G4->TI) indicated that it was not an authentic TI product. However, If that's not the case, I suspect that the frequency of occurrence might vary depending on the temperature grade.

Is there a specific area I should focus on for review? Are the position and capacity of the VCC bypass capacitor the most critical factors?

  • Hi HC,

Sorry for such a late response. I've been out of the office.

Are you able to get scopeshots of this?

How cold are you making the ambient temperature?

Do you have a schematic we can review?
