When we use the DS160PR410RNQR as the sata redriver, can the signal chain be referenced as follows (replace SN75LVPE3101 with DS160PR410) ?

There have a question in the location of the serial cap in the above diagram. According to the sata protocol specification, the recommended links are as follows, that is, both transmitter and receiver need to have the serial cap . The second half of the typical application of the SN75LVPE3101, which is connected to a SATA device, is also designed in this way.

But HOST is connected to the SN75LVPE3101 with only one serial capacity, what is the reason?

I would recommend data sheet Figure 7-4 for an example implementation.

Hi Tony,

The SN75LVPE3101 and DS160PR410 have different packages and pinouts, 24-pin VQFN compared to 40-pin WQFN. In addition, the SN75LVPE3101 is a two-channel bidirectional redriver while the DS160PR410 is a four-channel unidirectional redriver, so the signal routing and channel count are different. I'm not sure what is meant by a direct replacement, but it would not be possible to install the DS160PR410 in the same place as the SN75LVPE3101 without significant changes to the board design.

Hi Tony,

Yes, this is applicable.

Note that some SATA controllers have different RX Detect functionality than PCI Express, so this should be considered as well.
