LMH1219: How many LMH1219+LMH1228s can be cascading with error free oprtation

Part Number: LMH1219
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH1218, LMH1228

Tool/software:

Hi Team,

Please advise me on my questions bellows:

Q1. Have you ever tested the cascading capability of the LMH1219,

and LMH1228 (or LMH1218) using 12G/3G color bar, as well as

         pathological pattern?

Q2. If so, can I shear the test results?

                     12G color bar                         ??   cascade

                     12G pathological                  ??   cascade

                     3G color bar                           ??   cascade

                     3G pathological                    ??   cascade

Q3. The LMH1219 datasheet insists the maximum cable reach on

         different conditions.

What kind of test pattern is assumed?

Q4. If the cable reach performance of the data sheet is based on the color bar,

do you have the cable reach performance using pathological pattern?

  • Hi Mita,

Q1. Have you ever tested the cascading capability of the LMH1219,

and LMH1228 (or LMH1218) using 12G/3G color bar, as well as

             pathological pattern?

Q2. If so, can I shear the test results?

                         12G color bar                         ??   cascade

                         12G pathological                  ??   cascade

                         3G color bar                           ??   cascade

                         3G pathological                    ??   cascade

We have not done a cascading test for the LMH12918 and LMH1218 using color bar and pathological. Based on prior experience with cascading LMH devices there is not a serious detriment to signal integrity by cascading.

The LMH1219 datasheet insists the maximum cable reach on

             different conditions.

What kind of test pattern is assumed?

    Color bar - 11.88 Gbps, PRBS-10, TX launch amplitude = 720 mV

If the cable reach performance of the data sheet is based on the color bar,

do you have the cable reach performance using pathological pattern?

We do not for the LMH1219, but please check our new device the LMH1229. We have data on the pathological performance reach length on the front page of the datasheet.

Please let me know if you have more questions.

    Best Regards,

    Nick

  • Nick-san,

    Thank you for your answers.
