TSWDC155EVM: Unable to connect to the TSWDC155EVM via JTAG

Hi team,

Our customer is using TSWDC155EVM to evaluate ADS9817EVM for system performance.

The EVMs work well with the GUI, but when customer use JTAG or USB-C to directly connect to the TSWDC155EVM, the PC can not recognize the FPGA card.

The customer uses Xilinx Vivado 2020.1 for FPGA programming.

The boards are powered up correctly according to the GUI manual.

Could you help to confirm:

Is the TSWDC155EVM accessible via JTAG / USB cable, and programmable externally? Or it can only be accessed / programmed by the EVM GUI?
Can we provide source code or other programming support for this EVM?

Hi Frank,

Hope you're well. Sorry for the delay, this post did not generate a notification on my end previously. For future support with ADS9817/13, please feel free to email me directly. In order to use the TSWDC155EVM with a JTAG connecter, I believe the customer would need to remove the jumper from header J4. I will check with the software team and confirm shortly. Alternative to the GUI, the customer may use our Python APIs, available here: https://dr-download.ti.com/secure/software-development/driver-or-library/MD-Kihe7IOy9N/1.0.0/ADS9817EVM_Driver_Installer.exe

Hi Frank,

So, there is no modification needed on the hardware of TSWDC155EVM. The customer's jumper settings are fine. However, they do need to power on the board via the EVM before they can communicate via JTAG. To power on, on the GUI, press the "Initialize USB" and "Power up" buttons. Then, after a number of LEDs light up on the board, the customer should be able to see the EVM show up on Vivado, as shown below:

If the customer does not want to use the GUI to power up the EVM every time, they can make the following hardware mods on the TSWDC155EVM:

Remove R169, R14, R187
Add R34 (10kΩ)
