SN75LVDS387: EVM for converting LVDS to LVCMOS?

Part Number: SN75LVDS387
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCE6214-Q1EVM, SN65LVDS2, SN65LVDS4, DS90LVRA2, SN75LVDS386

Tool/software:

Hi team,

Is the related post/question still true? (https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface-group/interface/f/interface-forum/1055898/sn75lvds387-lvcmos-input-rather-than-lvttl)

Do we have any EVM for converting LVDS to LVCMOS (multi-channel)? Or could this be achieved with any of our current level shifters?

Looking for a board that could interface well with the CDCE6214-Q1EVM (1.8V or 3.3V outputs).

Best regards,

Randy

  • Hi Randy,

Could you please clarify that you are looking for an LVDS receiver that outputs an LVCMOS signal? The device you tagged is an LVDS driver so I just want to clarify. Also what voltage are you targeting, 2.5V or 1.8V?

Regarding low voltage LVDS receivers, we have SN65LVDS2, SN65LVDS4, DS90LVRA2 which are our lowest voltage receivers. The SN65LVDS4 and DS90LVRA2 have EVM available. Let me know if any of these are what you are looking for.

You could definitely use a higher voltage receiver and down translate the output to get an LVCMOS output as well.

    Regards,

    Jack

  • The DS90LVRA2 is suitable for the application. Any suggestions for reaching a requirement of 48 channels? What is the maximum number of LVDS inputs that we can convert as CMOS output? (in one chip)?

    Best regards,

    Randy

  • For these very low voltage devices they only have 1 or 2 channels per device. DS90LVRA2 has 2, so that would be the max LVDS to LVCMOS channels you could get out of a single chip. To support 48 channels with as few ICs as possible you would need to use a higher voltage (3.3V) receiver and down translate the output to 1.8V. The most receivers we have per device is 16.

Three SN75LVDS386 (EVM available) with level translators would work. For a suitable level translator for this application I would refer you to the Translation Products product line.
