About SN65DPHY440SS, SN75DPHY440SS

My customer Samsung TV is now looking for about MIPI camera design into the TV.

For huge screen of TV, MIPI camera to TV SoC length is almost over than 1M. (it depends on TV panel inch)

TI has SN65/75DPHY440SS device, my question is,

What is the maximum length to support from MIPI camera to SoC? 12inch at FR4 is the maximum? What is maximum value? (datasheet on page 20. picture says 12inch)

If it only support 12inch. To cover 1meter length, can I use 3 or 4 device on it in serial ?

Or do we have any efficient other solution?

Hi,

The DPHY440 has both receiver equalizer and transmitter pre-emphasis to compensate the channel ISI loss. Three RX equalization levels are available at 0 dB, 2.5 dB, and 5 dB at 750MHz. Two TX pre-emphasis levels are available at 0dB and 2.5dB. Depending on the channel loss and the placement of the DPHY440, we can use both RX equalizer and TX pre-emphasis to achieve the optimal result.

Do we know the loss of this 1M Trace/Cable? And what is the required data rate?

-> He considers 2 kind of solution. and expects 0.2dB at FPCB. and 0.5dB at FFC.

The data rate = 1920x1080x60x24 = 2,985,984,000 bps

Hi,

The actual bandwidth will be higher because you have to take the horizontal blanking and vertical blanking into the calculation. With DPHY440 able to provide 5dB equalization compensation at 750MHz, I don't see an issue of supporting both solutions.

One more thing,

Datasheet says, "Supports up to 4 lanes at 1.5Gbps" Does it means each lane support 1.5G each? or Total lane supports up to 1.5G?
